On the afternoon of 6th, the Mount Everest 2020 mountaineering team set off from Mount Everest Base camp at an altitude of 5,200 meters and set foot on the summit. At 19 o’clock on the 6th, the surveying mountaineering team reached the first stop, and the transition camp at an altitude of 5,800 meters was recuperated.

China and Nepal canceled the spring climbing on their sides of the mountain to prevent infections from spreading as expedition teams traveled to the region and lived for weeks in tightly packed camps at high altitudes with little access to emergency medical help.

There are more than 30 members in this surveying mountaineering team, which is composed of professional mountaineers of the Chinese mountaineering team and surveyors of the first geodetic team of the Ministry of Natural Resources. At present, the basic measurement work of the periphery has been basically completed.

The Mount Everest 2020 mountaineering team members will carry GNSS (Global Satellite Navigation System) receivers, gravimeters, snow radars, meteorological measuring instruments and targets to reach the summit of Mount Everest for measurement operations. China’s network of Beidou satellites will be also used in a survey to determine the mountain’s current height and natural resources, along with other domestically developed surveying technology.

Leosurvey Invar Staff are honored to be taken as the surveying accessories during this significant movement.
